Terms and Conditions for Roof Box or Bar Hire

What documentation do I need when picking up my roof box or equipment rental?

You will need to have identification stated below:

  • Proof of home address: A recent gas/electricity or council tax bill
  • Photo ID: Passport or Photo Driving Licence.

Equipment Rentals

  • All rentals are subject to standard rental company terms and conditions of the rental agreement, as signed at the time of Equipment pick-up. Once you have signed the rental agreement, the agreement is then between you and the roof box rental supplier.
  • All rentals are calculated on a 24-hour basis from time of pick-up.
    A security Bond of £50 for roof boxes and £25 for roof bars is due at the time of booking, and is refundable on return of the equipment being in suitable condition.
  • Failure to return the equipment on the agreed date & time may result in additional charges.
  • Extensions to the rental period must be notified to Automotion.
  • All terms and conditions of the rental location from where you collect your vehicle must be followed. It is in your interest to read and understand these terms before signing the rental agreement, if you do not understand, please ask a member of staff to help you.
  • The hirer is responsible for the total cost of any repairs/replacement, or if damaged/lost while in their possession.
  • The provision of adequate insurance cover for your goods is the sole responsibility of the hirer. Automotion must be informed of any change of vehicle prior to the hire date to ensure correct fittings are provided.

European/Overseas Rentals

You are free to take your roof box or other hire equipment to any EU member country, you as the hirer must make sure that you satisfy the laws of the county you are entering.

Equipment Types

All hires are subject to availability; Automotion reserves the right to substitute any item without prior notice. The roof boxes and other equipment illustrated within this website / booking form are for guidance only and may be substituted for an alternative similar or upgraded equipment (at no extra cost). If you are dissatisfied with the standard of equipment, you must advise us immediately.

Booking changes

Unforeseen circumstances may make it necessary for changes to be made to your booking (after acceptance); we reserve the right to do so. This may either be an upgrade, downgrade, price adjustment or cancellation. In all instances you will be advised as soon as possible before the date of hire, any pre paid deposits etc will be refunded in full if needed.

The supplied booking confirmation is only valid for the dates and times requested. No refunds can be made on pre payment deposits, or un-used rental days or for cancelled bookings with less than five days notice before commencement of hire. Automotion must be informed of all cancellations to avoid any charges to yourself.


Clients and customers of Automotion will be subject to the terms and conditions of the contract, and the laws of the country where the rental takes place. Automotion accepts no responsibility for, and shall not be liable in respect of any loss; damage; alterations; delays or changes arising from civil unrest; industrial dispute; including port authority control disputes; terrorist activity; natural and nuclear disaster; fire or adverse weather conditions; unavoidable technical problems with transport; closure or congestion of ports, roads, motorways; cancellation of scheduled crossings and financial failure of ferries or transport companies in general. If it is decided that we have any liability to you, for any loss or damage which you may suffer (other than personal injury resulting from the non-performance or improper performance of the services involved in the roof box rental), that liability shall be limited to two times the price of the roof box rental. Any loss, damage or injury caused as a result of the use, fitting or overloading of the equipment is the total responsibility of the hirer. Automotion and its employees cannot be held responsible or liable in any way.



Automotion is proud of its customer support and the service we provide to our customers. To assist with any complaint, Automotion endeavours to resolve any issue within 28 days of written receipt of complaint.

Data Protection

We will only use the information that we collect about you in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998

The type of information we will collect about you includes:

  • Your name
  • Address
  • Phone number or numbers
  • Email address or addresses
  • Vehicle Details

By booking with Automotion, online, in writing or telephone you are agreeing to have the above details held on our database.

The personal information we hold about you will be held securely in accordance with the data protection act 1998.

We do not sell or forward your email address, your home address, or telephone numbers to anyone or company. We may have to share some of your details with other parties or agents to make bookings on your behalf; this is performed in accordance with the data protection act 1998.
